While Air China’s Domestic First Class Lounge at Beijing Capital Airport Terminal 3D serves only domestic flights, it is one of the finer facilities at the airport. Designed by JPA Design and located on a mezzanine overlooking the concourse, it embodies a level of luxury and service that can only be found in Asia. Air China is truly raising the bar.

Design and amenities

Past the reception desk, travelers enter a spacious open seating area with a variety of seating arrangements and conversation nooks. The space caters both to solo travelers and groups, with plenty of semi-private or private areas. Business travelers will enjoy the privacy afforded by the tall armchairs, while weary travelers may choose to indulge in a massage provided by one of the several chairs overlooking the terminal below. Movie lovers and those who seek maximum privacy may use one of the several viewing cubicles equipped with an oversized movie theater-style chair complete with drink holders and a large flat screen.

Self-serve snack areas dot the lounge, but the highlight is the restaurant zone located behind an elegant wooden partition. The large dining area offers a generous buffet featuring a range of cold and warm snacks and entrees, as well as cooked-to-order noodles. Coffee lovers will enjoy the espresso bar where baristas will prepare the drink of their choice. A large selection of soft and alcoholic beverages is also available. Service is courteous and prompt.

The large bathroom area is another highlight. In lieu of large shared bathrooms, the lounge offers numerous elegant oversized stalls with a toilet, a sink and selection of bath products. Well-appointed shower suites are also available and come with full range of amenities including slippers. A nice touch is the various lighting options ranging from (particularly effective) heating bulbs to vanity lighting, all controlled by an electronic panel.

Other amenities include a business center with computers as well as magazines. There is also a small (windowless) VIP room.
