There are two ways to get to the Concorde Room. If you’re departing from Terminal 5, a side door is conveniently and discretely located immediately outside the main security checkpoint, to your right. If you’re connecting, then make your way to the South lounges, where you will also find the Galleries Club and First lounges.
British Airways Concorde Room LHR design
The British Airways Concorde Room at London Heathrow airport Terminal 5 is comprised of three main areas: a general lounge area with a bar, an “outdoor” terrace overlooking the terminal, and a dining area with booths and waiter service.
The design of the main lounge area was decidedly meant to impress. With partitions carving out semi-private spaces, several (electric) fireplaces, couches and lounge seats, recessed lighting and golden hues, the space evokes a posh, traditional British living room. Unfortunately, it could benefit from a makeover and greater care by the staff. The worn and stained carpet and furniture, the leftover plates and glasses make for a rather poor first impression. Also, power outlets are sorely missing in many areas, and the dark ambiance may be a bit stuffy for some.
Fortunately, the terrace provides an alternative, with light hardwood floors, an open layout, and sweeping views on the bustling concourse and ever-busy tarmac. It is typically less crowded than the main lounge area, however the noise from the concourse may be annoying. Do not miss the signature British Airways horse-shaped lamps – a rather amusing oddity.
The dining area is a highlight. While patrons may order food and beverages from any area of the lounge, the dining area, with its cozy booths, elegant and serene design, and full table service is not to be missed. The adjacent atrium provides a touch of natural light which contrasts pleasantly with the otherwise rather dark décor.
British Airways Concorde Room LHR amenities
Full meals are available at all hours, and while not overly extravagant, the food is tasty, fresh, and well presented. It’s unfortunate that the service seems to be consistently spotty. Perhaps the staff is overworked, but in our experience the waiters, while they gladly accommodate special requests and substitutions, seem to routinely mix up orders.
The bar offers a broad selection of cocktails, as well as fine Laurent Perrier Grand Siècle Champagne, which British Airways also serves on board. Patrons may walk to the bar or order from any server – the service is friendly, but not necessarily proactive. Incidentally, the Galleries First lounge offers a broader, but slightly lower end, selection of Champagnes.
The showers are located outside the Concorde Room, in a common are shared between three lounges. Be sure to inquire early as there is often a waitlist.
The cabanas (private rooms) might be the most overhyped feature of the Concorde Room. All three Cabanas come with a chaise lounge chair, a TV, a writing desk, and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. The cabanas offer ample privacy and are an ideal place to work in complete silence—or have a private party with friends (food and service can be ordered from the cabanas, too.) However, physically, the rooms are unattractive, with no natural light, a pretty dreadful color palette, and worn furniture. There is no real bed, and the shower drains are creepily loud. If you need a nap or complete privacy, the Cabanas are a welcome amenity – be sure to book well in advance by contacting YouFirst. Otherwise, you’re not missing out much in our opinion.
Other amenities include a luggage storage service, a Concierge desk, and sleeping pods for brief power naps.
British Airways Concorde Room LHR bottom line
We have mixed feelings about British Airways’ Concorde Room. By far the best lounge in Terminal 5, the Concorde Room offers high-end products and services such as private rooms, restaurant-style dining, and a fine selection of alcoholic beverages. Yet, the Concorde Room is often crowded, could use a refurbishment, and service falls short of our expectations: it is unacceptable to see dirty cups and plates everywhere in a first class lounge. Also, British Airways could prioritize access to showers for First Class passengers to ensure a smoother experience. Finally, it is worth noting that due to its location in the main concourse, the Concorde Room is far from the remote A, B, and C concourses and the staff does not announce or monitor flights. Be sure to keep an eye on the information displays and leave early.
Update: British Airways has refreshed the furniture, sanded the hardwood floors, deep cleaned the space, and added semi-private seating areas on the terrace. However, the style of the new furniture remains distinctively in the same vein, and the lounge has kept his old-fashioned vibe.
- The private dining area.
- The fireplaces and cozy seating areas.
- The high-end beverage selection.
- The overall lack of service.
- The wait for showers (and having to leave the lounge to shower.)
- The crowds at peak times.

Overall ratings
One of the best lounges at Heathrow. Difficult to find if you’re connecting at Heathrow but I’m sure it’s easy to find when using the first class wing.
Food was excellent and it was the best burger I’ve ever eaten at an airport (so good I ordered it twice)
Nice seating options.
Only thing that let it down was that the bar staff didn’t seem to know what a whisky sour was so the manager had to come and make my drink for me. i would expect in a first class lounge that offers cocktails for a basic cocktail to be known
Not the best experience here. First the pros: food and drinks were good. Cons: very noisy! Not so much from people, but constant loud music. Expected a fairly quiet atmosphere, with quiet classical music, something calming. But no, loud pop sort of music. We asked staff several times if they might turn it down. One staff person even agreed it was too loud, but nothing was done. Also, since I had an injury, we requested a wheelchair to get to the far away gate. We waited and waited, kept being told it was on the way. I don’t know if it ever showed up, we ended up having to walk (hobble) to the gate.
People fairly argue that AF La Premiere at CDG and LH F in FRA are even better, but the Concorde Room is still one of the world’s great lounges. Great wines and champagnes, good food to order a la carte, quiet, attractive space, including a terrace, and never seen it crowded (unlike the business class BA T5 lounges which often have lines). Lots of staff who are very good.
Used this lounge while awaiting for our flight (19th Dec )service was excellent .bar staff excellent with very attentive service especially from one lady .had a fab breakfast they took great care of my allergy as well . See you on the flight back .many thanks
The Concorde room has the quiet, relaxed atmosphere one imagines would be found in an exclusive and traditional gentleman`s club. After a friendly welcome and an invitation to leave hand luggage at the special desk, we enjoyed an excellent breakfast in one of the very private restaurant booths. We had several hours before our flight to the US and were well looked after on the comfortable balcony sofas by courteous and discreet staff throughout our visit. We visited the lounge again on our return while waiting for our onward flight – again, a very enjoyable experience. There is plenty of seating and the lounge is divided into sections with many small seating areas so the noise level is very low.
We had a full English breakfast, which was very good, and also an excellent club sandwich from the lunch menu. Meals can be eaten in the restaurant or in the lounge areas and top of the range wines, spirits etc are available (and are offered) at any time.
Can`t comment on the computer facilities as everyone seemed to have their own tablets, phones etc but there were plenty of work stations. The washrooms were clean and spacious (and included bidets) but there are only three for women and at one stage there were people waiting. It is possible to book a private cabana with day bed, shower and TV, and also a complimentary spa treatment.
British Airways’ best lounge and one of the finer lounges in the world. Five stars, yet it’s not quite perfect 🙂
Nice BA flagship lounge with sophisticated interior, at least if you don`t go for the modern stuff often found today. Best place is the terrace-like part, because it is full of daylight and offers great apron-view. There is a restaurant called Concorde Dining which offers plenty of privacy since there are walls between the tables. It is kind of dark however, so you might want to eat just outside the restaurant at the bar. Service is good in the restaurant and at the champagne bar but kind of slow in all the other parts of the lounge. We sat at the terrace and always had to go to the bar in order to get something to drink. No problem though….
Fine Menu, but no self-service available at all. No problem if you dine at the restaurant, but otherwise the First Lounge which is just oppsite the Concorde Room might be an alternative. The menu does not differ to much and in addition they have a great buffet with plenty of great choices so you can create your own meal. They also have several self-service beverage outlets over there including 2 champagne bars. The champagne bar at the Concorde Room is tendered and offers even better champagne of course.
Free WIFI, concierge-service, flight-information-displays all over the lounge. Good selection of newspapers and magazines. Choice of international newspapers is better in the first lounge though. There is a boardroom for meetings. You can have a massage or other treatments at the ELEMIS Travel Spa which is located between the 2 lounges. Also there are showers available. The restrooms/bathrooms are furnished very cheaply but offer lots of space. There are some cabanas but you never get one….
The interiour is very luxurious with plenty of seating. Settle down on the terrace-area because it is much nicer and brighter there with more space and a great apron-view. However staff only shows of once in a while (if at all) so we needed to go to the bar in order to get something to drink. Service in general seems unprofessionel.
Good food at the Concorde Dining, and plenty of bevergaes including different champagnes and wines at the bar. There is however no self-service buffet or bar, so you always have some hassle if you need just a drink or a snack. Best solution for this is to go to the First-lounge nearby: great food buffet and plenty of self-service bars with even more selections than in the Concorde-Room.
Free WIFI, good selection of newspapers and magazines. Some advice for german passengers: go to the first-lounge for german newspapers. They always have some while the Concorde-Room never does. Restrooms are large but furnished kind of cheap. There are also some cabanas which we never were able to enjoy because they never have been available. At the Elemis Spa, which is shared with the First lounge, you can get some 15-minute massages and treatments. There is no priority for Concorde-Room guest so you are most likely have to wait for 2 or more hours, at least this is our experience based on many transfers through this place.
This lounge offers lots of exclusive seating areas, especially the seating in the indoor-terrace is very nice and offers great apron-view. There is a very nice restaurant and of course the famous champagne bar. However you have to ask for everything, no self-service for food or drinks available. Staff is nice but friendliness, competence and customer-orientation is a little below the standard found in other first class facilities.
Great selection of fine food and drinks.
TV, flight-information displays. free WLAN, lots of newspapers and magazines. one setback: they never have german newspapers, you need to go to the first-class lounge to get some. Showers and restrooms are ok, but not very fancy or luxuriuos. You can get a free massage at the Travel-Spa.
