The former, short-lived in-terminal hotel at Almaty airport has been converted into a VIP Lounge. The club is located outside security, to the left of the airport’s main entrance. (The former post-security access point has been shuttered.)
Primeclass VIP Lounge ALA design
The décor of the new CIP Transit Lounge at Almaty airport aims at fostering a sense of luxury with marble floors, high ceilings, elegant leather furniture, pastel colors, and an abundance of cushions and pillows. The space is spotless, eerily quiet, though the overall design feels stuck in between tradition and modernity while struggling to embody either.
The lounge features a spacious and brightly lit TV/theater area with oversized leather couches, an intimate dining area with floor-to-ceiling windows (though the ground floor location comes at the expense of any notable views), and a large sleeping zone with bunk beds dubbed the Capsule Hotel.
When we visited, there was not a single patron in sight, which seems to be the norm. This translates into an exquisitely private experience for guests, with plenty of space to stretch out and hold private conversations.
Primeclass VIP Lounge ALA amenities
The CIP Transit Lounge and Capsule Hotel at Almaty airport offers a modest range of amenities aimed at international travelers.
The small buffet area features a selection of quality snacks, cereal, shrink-wrapped sandwiches, yoghurt, and desserts. Unfortunately, the lounge does not offer fresh or hot food, but the spread is suitable for a modest meal on the ground.
The drink selection, however, fails to impress. Choices are limited to bottled water, juice, tea, and beer. Soda and alcoholic drinks are not available.
Complimentary and fast Wi-Fi is available throughout. (The airport also offers free Wi-Fi, but only for passengers who have a local cell phone number.)
Other amenities include a smoking room, bag lockers, and a selection of newspapers and magazines.
Primeclass VIP Lounge at Almaty (ALA) welcomes:
- All passengers, regardless of airline and class of service, for a fee.
- Select premium customers and elite members departing on an airline served by this lounge (see Airlines tab).
