The Goldair Handling CIP lounge at Athens international airport is an independent lounge serving passengers traveling within Europe’s Schengen zone. Goldair Handling is a supplier of airline ground handling services in Greece and South Eastern Europe. Amongst the operations that they run, Goldhair also operates a number of VIP lounges.
Several airlines, including Air France and Alitalia, contract the Goldair Handling Lounge for their elite and premium passengers. The club also welcomes members of popular lounge access programs such as Priority Pass.
Goldair Handling Lounge ATH design
Entering the Goldair Handling CIP lounge is a bit of an assault on the senses. The space is modern and pristine, but almost uncomfortably bright. The polished stone floor, glass tables, metal lamp shades and mirrors all conspire to reflect and amplify the ample sunlight. We love the floor to ceiling windows, and designer furniture, but the choice of materials is surprising. Fortunately, indoor plants dot the club and add a touch of freshness to a space that would otherwise feel brutally impersonal.
The lounge is on the small side, though it’s extremely quiet most of the day. The open and spacious seating layout provides patrons with a generous amount of personal space and privacy. All seats come with a small side table. Seating options also include dining tables for four, as well as two large communal work tables – which happen to be the only spots to plug in, since the lounge is otherwise sorely devoid of power outlets.
The Goldair Handling CIP lounge offers unremarkable views on the parking lot – just like the other airline clubs, which are all located away from the gates. Light music plays in the background.
Goldair Handling Lounge ATH amenities
The Goldair Handling CIP lounge offers a basic food and beverage selection. The food spread is extremely limited and consists solely of fruit and a few snacks. A cooler holds a variety of juices and soda. There’s also a meager selection of alcoholic beverages – a bottle of wine, and lower shelf liquor and spirits. The star of the show is probably the Nespresso machine, which comes with a selection of coffee pods to choose from.
In the back of the lounge is a large smoking room with dining tables. Nearby are two large individual bathroom stalls.
A few shared computers are available on the communal tables, and complimentary Wi-Fi is available.
Overall, the Goldair Handling CIP lounge delivers on the basics – patrons will find a place to work or relax and enjoy a cup of coffee – but the amenities are limited.
Goldair Handling Lounge ATH bottom line
The Goldair Handling CIP lounge at Athens international airport is one of the most basic lounges in the Schengen zone. The amenities are limited, the lack of power outlets unfortunate, and the food and beverage selection fails to impress. That said, the club is extremely quiet most of the day, and offers Priority Pass, Lounge Club and Diners Club members a secluded and peaceful alternative to the terminal or busier lounges.
Passengers of Star Alliance airlines that use the Goldair Handling CIP lounge – Brussels Airlines, LOT, and SAS – may prefer to visit the Lufthansa Business Lounge for a vastly superior food and beverage selection, or the Aegean Business Lounge for a more dynamic vibe and additional space.
Do note that all lounges at Athens airport are located outside security – be sure to leave ahead of time.

Overall ratings
Same experience as the other reviewers – incredibly rude staff, and they reject everyone with Priority Pass citing “capacity restrictions” when the lounge is practically empty. 0 stars for a dishonest and rude company.
Terrible recognition of Priority Pass. 5AM on a Sunday and refused entry due to being ‘too busy.’ In reality maybe at half capacity, they should remove themselves from Priority Pass if they are not interested in being in the program
Nice looking lounge let down by terrible vustomer service. They two receptions decided to stop accepting any passengers using loungekey even though the lounge was practically empty.
Upgraded a lot after the initial review on this website, very comfortable and pleasant experience. Food: there was different sandwiches, (coldsmoked salmon which I loved) breads, warm soup, different warm pies, fruits, almond milk etc. Very nice little lunch buffet. 6 different local wines, at least 3 different gins etc, very nice variety for all tastes. Friendly service and very clean. I wouldn’t come here for 6 hours layover but for 2-3 hours of relaxing, eating and a few drinks it’s perfect. 🙂
The service of the handling SUCKS Broken wheel chair we had 2 of them one worse than the other
I had to put my Daughter leg on my suitcase with the small wheel after a 8 hours surgery going home and the guy the in charge of the handling push the wheel chair and i would lead the suit case to the terminal The handler wasvery sympathetic as there was not much he could do .
Total MESS and Disaster and frustrating and a lot of agony . even the guy name Angel helping admits the problem has been going on for years and they simply DO NOT CARE .
The Goldair Handling lounge at Athens airport is typically quiet and private, except at peak departure times, but very basic. It is mostly a place to sit with a small snack selection.
This was quite nice with a lovely receptionist to welcome us. Food was quite cold but there was a good selection and a delicious aubergine dip, drinks were self serve and good quality
Nice clean lounge but not up to par with its neighboring Star Alliance lounge. I visited on a Tuesday morning and found barely any food left and it didn’t seem like there was any intention to refill it.
Hardly anything offered.
