KLM Crown Lounge IAH design
The design of the KLM Crown Lounge at Houston airport was inspired by the original decor of the airline’s flagship clubs at Amsterdam-Schiphol. The space was lightly refreshed late 2023, but hasn’t changed substantially over the years.
The KLM Crown Lounge is comprised of two rooms linked by a hallway. The club is on the small side, with seating for just approximately 80 customers, though it doesn’t feel too cramped. Both rooms feature open seating areas with power outlets and side tables at every seat. In the first room is also a small dining area (where power outlets are somewhat lacking.) There are even seats in the hallway, in an attempt to make the most of the available real estate.
While the lounge has windows, the space overlooks the neon-lit concourse and lacks exterior views and daylight.
KLM Crown Lounge IAH amenities
In the main room is a stylish island with a selection of food and drinks. The food selection varies throughout the day. It is slightly more elaborate prior to the departure of the daily KLM flight, though it is typically pretty basic overall. Expect snacks such as hummus and pita bread, potato chips, cheese and fruit throughout the day, and cold cuts, veggies and pasta salad prior to flight time.
The drink selection is a highlight, however: soft drinks, beer, wine, and liquor are all self-serve. An elaborate espresso machine is also available.
In the rear room is a small business center with work cubicle and a couple of shared computers. Other amenities include a wide selection of international newspapers and magazines. Unfortunately, there are no showers.
KLM Crown Lounge IAH bottom line
The KLM Crown Lounge at Houston Intercontinental airport is a small and basic but pleasant and stylish lounge with comfortable seating and an enjoyable selection of alcoholic beverages. With only one KLM flight a day, it is typically pretty quiet.
Considering that Houston Bush airport is dominated by United, Priority Pass members will find that the KLM Crown Lounge makes for an enjoyable alternative to the routinely-crowded United Clubs. As a business class facility, though, the KLM Crown Lounge Houston feels underwhelming. It’s unfortunate that Air France and KLM continue to operate separate clubs, instead of joining forces. A larger, combined space would offer a more premium experience and the two airlines could possibly add missing amenities such as showers.
- The simple yet stylish and bold design.
- The beverage selection.
- The calm environment.
- The lack of daylight and views.
- The lack of showers.

Overall ratings
This lounge does not allow PP/Amex Plat visitors between 1200 to 1845.
Didn’t get in because they didn’t have room for my family of 4, told me to come back in 45minutes which is all I had before departures
The food was more than adequate and the service was fine. There is only one toilet in the ladies room while there are stalls in the men’s room. The lighting is too bright to be condusive relaxing/napping.
Lounge was closed at 7am when it’s supposed to be open at 6am. Very inconvenient.
Comfortable lounge with booze and snacks. Good wifi. We went in the morning and they had biscuits, fruit and some other packaged snacks. Beer, wine and booze. Several chairs and outlets.
Its open til 9pm every day not 6pm as reported on this site.
Horrible service. Terms clearly state the potential restriction for priority pass passengers doesn’t begin until 1pm. Tried to check in at noon and woman at the desk says that they only take priority pass holders until 12:30pm at which time they pass it off to the Air France lounge. Well, the Air France lounge doesn’t open until 12:45pm. She wouldn’t check me in at noon for me to stay until the Air France lounge is open. When I questioned her that the terms says the restriction doesn’t begin at 1pm and why she couldn’t check me in at noon all of a sudden she gets short with me and changes her story that they close at noon. She just told me the “switchover” was at 12:30. lol. What a joke.
Upon arrival at the lounge, I encountered an unpleasant situation. The lady at the front desk exhibited rudeness and a lack of professionalism. Unfortunately, the supervisor was nowhere to be found during this encounter.
Issues Raised:
Inconsistent Rules: Initially, I was informed that Priority Pass access was not accepted that day, and only business class passengers were allowed. However, when I presented my business class ticket, I was told that only KLM Airlines business class passengers were permitted.
Lack of Policy Documentation: The lady at the front desk was unable to provide any official policy documents to support her claims. I recommend that the lounge display clear policy guidelines to assist staff in handling such situations in the future.
Refusal to Share Name: Most concerning was her refusal to share her name. As a customer, I believe this behavior is highly unprofessional and unacceptable.
Suggestions for Improvement:
Policy Display: I kindly request that the KLM Lounge prominently display policy documents to ensure consistent and fair treatment for all guests.
Staff Training: Training staff members on customer service etiquette and professionalism is crucial. Encouraging transparency and accountability will enhance the overall experience for travelers.
I appreciate your attention to this matter and hope that steps will be taken to address these issues promptly. As a loyal KLM customer, I look forward to a more positive experience during my future visits to your lounges.
Thank you for your understanding and assistance.
Sincerely,
A pleasant and well maintained lounge with finger food and an enjoyable drink selection. It’s on the small side, and the views on the concourse are bleak, but seating is comfortable and power outlets plentiful.
