Access
As its name indicates, the Lufthansa First Class Terminal at Frankfurt airport is a standalone structure entirely dedicated to Lufthansa and SWISS First Class passengers. It is primarily intended for passengers whose itinerary begins in Frankfurt (for further details and exceptions, see below.)
The experience starts as soon as you drive or get dropped off to the terminal: a personal assistant promptly greets you, and from this point on they will be discretely facilitating every aspect of your stay behind the scenes. While a valet returns your rental car, you hand off your passport and bags to your personal assistant. You’re not checking in — merely handing documents for a quick eligibility check before you get whisked through the private security checkpoint. Your personal assistant will complete your checkin and immigration formalities later, and personally bring you your boarding pass while you enjoy the lounge. They will of course fulfill any requests that you may have regarding your itinerary.
See the Access tab for detailed directions on how to get to the First Class Terminal, driving, on foot or using public transportation, or when connecting from another flight.
Design and amenities
As soon as you are through security — which typically takes less than a minute, and you would have never known that security personnel could be so polite — the many amenities of the Lufthansa First Class Terminal are yours to enjoy. Your personal assistant will provide a tour upon request.
To your left is a small duty free shop. Ahead of you, a large lounge area, featuring voluptuous furniture, massage chairs, recliners, and various other seating arrangements in a serene and sophisticated setting. To your right is a bar boasting a sumptuous collection of the best liquors and dozens of whiskeys. Should you not care for alcohol, the water bar features a dozen high-end mineral waters from around the world. There’s no need to physically make your way to the bar, though, since a server will promptly come take orders as soon as you sit down, and bring you the perfectly crafted cocktail or cappuccino.
Other amenities at the Lufthansa First Class Terminal include a cigar bar, where connoisseurs may enjoy a complimentary cigar and perhaps a fine whiskey, private sleeping rooms with day beds and blankets, as well as private offices with computers.
The full service restaurant occupies a large portion of the First Class Terminal. A buffet, catered by Do&Co, offers a variety of tasty appetizers, entrees, and desserts. The décor and selection vary throughout the year as the chefs explore various themes. Lavish displays celebrate German regions, traditional specialties, the seasons, or world events. Should you prefer table service to the buffet, you can also order a variety of dishes from the kitchen. Elegant tables are dressed with linen and flowers highlighted by custom lighting.
Stop by the reception desk outside the gorgeous bathroom with plush towels and inquire about a shower, or perhaps a bath. The attendant will lead you to a spacious room featuring a large tub, toilet, shower, and dressing area. Toiletries are provided upon request, along with sea salts, foaming bath, plush towels, a bathrobe and slippers. The highlight is of course the infamous Lufthansa First Class rubber ducky that sits preciously on the bath tub — a real collector’s item that has devoted fans. In a trait of marketing genius, Lufthansa produces various seasonal limited edition duckies, in addition to the standard yellow friendly companion.
After a meal, a bath, a quick nap, and perhaps a few drinks from the bar, you’d think it may be wise to check on your flight. That will not be necessary. When it is time to board, your personal assistant comes find you and offers to take your carry-on bag. After a brief elevator ride or a walk down the stairs, you find yourself on the ground level of the terminal, where a police officer returns your passport. Your Mercedes or Porsche awaits. It’s time to bid your assistant farewell as the driver stores your carry-on in the trunk and drives you away. You hope that you aircraft departs from the other end of the airport as you pass wide body aircraft and enjoy the smooth and quiet ride in a luxury car. Soon enough though, your driver opens the door for you and leads you to an elevator to your jetway. Ignore the confused looks from the passengers waiting to board, as you go straight to the aircraft where your driver introduces you to the pursuer and wishes you a pleasant flight. And the best part is, your experience is only beginning.
Lufthansa First Class Terminal FRA bottom line
The Lufthansa First Class Terminal at Frankfurt airport is one of the world’s finest lounges. It combines an exquisite design with utter convenience, personal service, high-end catering, and a breadth of amenities. There are newer, fancier First Class lounges in the middle East, but the Lufthansa First Class Terminal remains a beacon of understated luxury and elegance.
Directions
- Driving: follow the signs to the departure level of Terminal 1. Before you reach Terminal 1 turn right towards the First Class Terminal. If you are driving a rental car, you may drive it straight to the First Class terminal as a valet will return your car for you.
- Using public transportation (S-Bahn and buses): there is no station or stop immediately outside the First Class Terminal. Follow the signs to the main terminal, then follow the walking directions below.
- Walking: exit the terminal on the lower (arrivals) level, then make a left. Keep walking beyond the main terminal building and past the taxi stands, for approximately 5-10 minutes, until you see the easily identifiable First Class Terminal building on your left. Cross the street. Then you can choose to either take the small spiral staircase up to the upper level and enter through the main entrance, or alternatively enter through the door at the lower level and then take the elevator which will lead you to the lobby. If you do not wish to walk to the First Class Terminal with bags, you may check in first at the main terminal building in the First Class area, then walk over to the Terminal and present your boarding pass for access.
- From a connecting flight: if you are eligible for access as per the rules above, you may exit the airport and then walk over to the First Class terminal. Follow the signs to baggage claim, then exit the terminal building and follow the directions above. Allow plenty of time to do so, and consider whether you may want to use one of the First Class lounges instead, which offer virtually the same amenities as the First Class terminal. You will need to clear security again as you enter the First Class terminal.
Notes
- You will be asked to surrender your passport as you enter the First Class terminal. This is a standard procedure; immigration checks will be performed while you enjoy the lounge and your passport will be returned as you leave the leave the terminal to get driven to your flight. Should you wish to leave the terminal temporarily, you can ask for your passport back, but you will need to re-clear security as you return.
- The First Class Terminal does not have a tax refund office. Should you wish to obtain a tax refund for eligible purchases, you will need to do so at the main terminal in the central shopping area.
- The design — luxurious but classy.
- The food.
- The outstanding shower suites and bath tub.
- The private ride to the aircraft.
- The few cuts over the year that have slightly impacted the experience.

Overall ratings
Completely separate from rest of airport, very convenient as you can avoid the crowd. Nice and large lounge with quiet areas and even smoking room.
Service is unfortunately not very good, not on first class level.
Still one of the better lounges.
Great is the drive directly to the aircraft.
Very good choice (buffet and a la carte), I usually take the Wiener Schnitzel which is very good. Good wine choice.
Many reading materials, working areas etc.
They have nice shower rooms and also some rooms to rest.
This first class Terminal is still on a good level overall seen and compared internationally, however I feel a slight decrease in quality, both on food and service level. What is still nice is the fast handling of check in and security check. Also great is the private transfer in a Porsche to the aircraft.
Yes there is afoot choice, however for me it was disappointing – food was too salty and the meat was overcooked. What was very good was the dessert. What is really bad is the service- staff are not very attentive (I needed to wait for 30 minutes just to get some water, was never asked if I need something, and some staff were even rude). A pity as this used to be top standard service before.
Very nice lounge from design and layout perspective, as well as the nice showers and massages facilities. Large reading material choice. Internet was fast. This is still excellent.
I received a warm welcome, and a personal assitant helped me in order to make this lounge visit a fantastic experience
The choice and quality of the food is impressive.
Everything one needs is available
Finally got to pay a visit to this storied lounge. All the hype is true. From the moment you walk through the door and meet your personal attendant this place makes you feel special. Security and passport control right there. The restaurant, cigar lounge, the customer service, fantastic.
The in-terminal first class lounges at Frankfurt are great. This first class terminal is better! Makes time at the airport a treat.
What ‘s better for breakfast than eggs benedict? Nothing! Mine was seriously restaurant quality.
This place has it all and the private ride straight to your plane is the cherry on top.
It sets the standard.
After so many years this lounge is still one of the finest worldwide.Very exclusive atmosphere with lots of different areas to eat, work or just relax. Service-Staff (not one of the german) is very friendly. The lounge has security and passport-controll on site, so you never have to wait. also the transfer to your gate by car is very convenient.
Very nice restaurant that offers a great breakfast selection, a la carte as well as buffet. Choice of beverages in this place is unbelievable.
Free WIFI, plenty of german and international newspapers and magazines. Exclusive Restrooms, bathrooms with showes and bathub and 2 dayrooms with a bed. Cigar-Lounge and relax-chairs with massage-function. Playroom for Kids – no computers there anymore…..
Altough this lounge is a few years old now, it still is a top of the line facility which offers just about everything you could wish for to make your stay a comfortable one. The interiour is still very appealing and of a high quality. Staff is very friendly; you get a personal assistant that takes care of your travel arrangements. There are different seating-areas including a bar, a restaurant and some relax-chairs. The lounge has own security-screening and passport-control, so you never have to wait.
Since it was an early departure we could only enjoy the breakfast which was very good. The enormous choice of beverages is very impressive.
TV, Free WIFI and huge selection of national and international newspapers and magazines. Flight Information Display shows only the flights of the passengers in the lounge. Bathrooms are very nice. The lounge also offers showers, a cigar lounge, 2 dayrooms, a shop, office-cubicles and a playroom for kids. Your personal assistant picks you up when it is time to board, and guides you to the limousine that takes you to the plane.
Very exclusive lounge with great staff. Everything is done to make the stay relaxing and enjoyable. Great selection of reading material, free WIFI, Game room for Kids, many different seating areas.
Couldn`t be better. Restaurant where you can choose something from the extensive menue or help yourself at the buffet that offers a huge selection of fine things. The Bar features more than 70 different whiskeys as well as plenty of other drinks including different champagnes and wide choice of wines, beers, spirits and tons of other beverages.
Office-cubicles to retreat for working. Nice restroom- and shower-area. Massage chairs, 2 day-rooms. Game-room for kids. Smokers lounge with bar.
One of the best lounges in the world. Great staff and exclusive atmosphere. Security and passport control are within the lounge, so you can bypass the lanes at the airport-building.
Great selection and finest quality.
Enormous selection of newspapers and magazines. Game room for Kids. Office cubicles. Free WIFI throughout the lounge. 2 dayrooms, massage-chairs, smokers-lounge. Very nice restrooms and showers.
