The LuxxLounge at Frankfurt airport is a pay-in lounge located at Terminal 1, before security, opposite the sky bridge to the Sheraton hotel. The club welcomes Priority Pass members, and also partners with a few airlines.
The LuxxLounge does not require a boarding pass for access, so it may be used as a departure or arrival facility, or even just while waiting for a friend at the airport.
LuxxLounge FRA design
The LuxxLounge at Frankfurt airport stands in sharp contrast with the rest of the terminal. While Frankfurt airport isn’t a beacon of design, it’s at least bright, modern, and quite functional. On the other hand, the LuxxLounge is dark, cramped, and the decor is a relic from yesteryear.
The lobby and reception area set the tone with their dark wood paneling and austere look. The lounge stretches on both sides: on the left side is the buffet and bar area, while on the right side is the seating area. This means that guests must walk through the lobby to help themselves to snacks and refreshments.
The dimly-lit space sports dark colors and a sad looking carpet with yellow hues and the occasional stain. The original design probably aimed at fostering a warm, upper-scale, and chic ambiance, though it’s resolutely old-fashioned nowadays. There are two separate seating areas. The first room is furnished with leather chairs facing each other, which offer little privacy or space to move around. In the rear seating area, solo travelers will find a slightly more private environment with side consoles and footstools. There are a number of power outlets along the walls at shoulder level, though nowhere enough at peak times.
The first room is designated as a cell-phone free zone, though it’s unlikely to be quiet. The lounge often operates at capacity, to the point that it may be difficult to find a seat.
LuxxLounge FRA amenities
The LuxxLounge at Frankfurt airport offers a wide array of amenities.
Guests will find a basic selection of cold cuts, snacks, and sweets, and fruit. The only hot option is pork sausages, and it doesn’t rotate throughout the day. Sausages are what’s for breakfast, and for dinner, too.
The drink selection is more generous. Choices include a variety of juices, soft drinks, beers, and wines, a modest assortment of well liquor and spirits, as well as tea and espresso. All drinks are self-serve. Premium wines and Champagne are available for purchase.
The LuxxLounge features two spacious shower rooms. The use of shower rooms is complimentary for pay-in guests, but there is a 5 Euro surcharge for Priority Pass members. If anything, the charge helps limit the number of users, especially in the morning peak time. Due to its location outside security, the LuxxLounge is an excellent option for inbound passengers who wish to freshen up after a long flight. (Lufthansa and United business class passengers have access to the much more glamorous Lufthansa Welcome Lounge.)
The business center is equipped with work cubicles and a printer. Two well-appointed conference rooms are available for an extra charge. For larger meetings, the LuxxLounge offers a “group lounge” with a spacious seating area and its own buffet.
Other amenities include fast Wi-Fi and a selection of newspapers and magazines.
LuxxLounge FRA bottom line
The LuxxLounge is the saddest lounge at Frankfurt airport. The LuxxLounge does deliver on the basics—comfortable seating, power outlets, Wi-Fi, snacks and beverages—but the environment is depressing, the facility dated, the food selection limited, and privacy virtually non-existent. In addition, the LuxxLounge is chronically crowded, in particular because it is the only option for Priority Pass members at Terminal 2.
The location outside security is a mixed bag. Departing passengers will need to allow at least 30 minutes to reach their gate—possibly more for flights to the US. On the flip side, being outside security, the LuxxLounge is available to all arriving passengers, and is a convenient option for inbound passengers who wish to freshen up and enjoy a quick breakfast ahead of their work day.

Overall ratings
We stopped by Lucy when we arrived in Frankfurt VERY early and well before we could check in to our hotel. Even with Priority Pass a departures boarding pass is required. Our information had suggested that wasn’t the case, so fyi. The lounge staff kindly made an exception for us though. Ambiance is nonexistent, but the coffee is hot and snacks are available. Not a luxury lounge, but a pleasant one.
Good if you are in 1910
Considering how bright, modern and comfortable this airport is in general, this lounge is dark, dingy and very dated. It probably was very luxurious in its day, but now it’s a bit tired.
Seats are comfortable and plenty of power points and usd chargers.
Very strange layout – 2 small rooms, separated by a corridor where the showers and toilets are found.
No private areas at all.
Food selection leaves a lot to be desired. I enjoyed the sausages and mustard, but other than that there basically wasn’t anything. Very limited drink selections too.
The staff I dealt with were all helpful and nice.
Very odd location, and definitely not convenient for a layover. You’ve got to go through immigration go enter Germany, then leave enough time to go through security and immigration before your boarding time. Might be nice for another situation, but for transit, this is pretty annoying.
Worst lounge I’ve ever visited
Full agreement with the other reviews. The worst lounge of this type that I have used. Very poor food. Reception desk staff maintained noisy personal conversations constantly. Uncomfortable, unpleasant and I advise you to avoid it.
Comfortable but a little small
Best
The sausages with mustard
Coffee,
Tea
Sodas
Beer
Wine
Worst
No too many options of food and drinks
No TV
Good internet
Plenty of power outlets
Good to have showers
I had a horrible experience in this lounge. I and my husband was blackmailed by the women at the reception. She maid us pay 10 euro for the showers, even tho only my husband too shower, but since I entered the premise to hand him toothpaste, they made us pay too. It was humiliating, unfair and completely unacceptable. Amex should distance themselves from nasty people.
Woah.
– The location is awful.
– Exorbitant price to use a very mediocre shower.
– Food is lousy, and the sausage is an embarrassment to German Cuisine.
– Carpets are stained and signs of wear everywhere.
Too hard to access when transitting, , and pre-security location means it takes a long time to get to your gate if your travel is originating in FRA.
My husband and I had a long (7 hours) wait at Frankfurt’s air port and since I am a handicap we decided to wait in a lounge. We were addressed to LuxxLounge as the ONLY one you can pay to get in. We paid 30 Euro for each person and walked in. At first it looked nice but our experience was NOT:
1) the woman at the reception was not nice at all.
2) the lounge was crowded and there was no place to sit.
3) only I was able to connect to wifi and it was pretty slow. My husband wasn’t able to connect at all!
4) the selection of food was poor and what was offered wasn’t tasty.
5) the ladies bathrooms were DIRTY AND SMELLY.
In conclusion- That was the most expensive not tasty hotdog I have ever bought and worst 60 euros I have ever spent!!!
Its too far away, no use for a lounge outside and far away from gates.
Have a priority pass but very useless unfortunately as the lounges are hard to find and far away.
Sorry!
A quiet retreat, but the food and amenities pale in comparison with what the nearby airline lounges offer.
This is the former AA Admiral`s Club in T1 of the Frankfurt Airport and the only lounge in this terminal to get into with a Priority Card. The staff was nice and reception ok. It rarely gets crowded, which may be due to its major disadvantage: It is before security, which is why I only use it if I`m waiting for someone in the general public area.
Basic lounge food and drinks.
Work stations are ok. Lounge has showers, which I never used. Other than that rather standard services.
