The Skyserv Melina Merkouri Lounge at Athens airport is an independent lounge for passengers flying within Europe’s Schengen zone. The Melina Merkouri Lounge welcomes customers of Adria Airways, Czech Airlines, Finnair, Iberia, as well as Priority Pass members and all passengers on a paid-in basis, regardless or airline and class of service.
Skyserv operates a second club dubbed the Skyserv Aristotle Onassis Lounge, in the non-Schengen section of the terminal. The two lounges are former Olympic Airways clubs and virtually identical in every regard.
Skyserv Melina Merkouri Lounge ATH design
If you’re familiar with the Schengen clubs, then you’re bound to notice the stark contrast between the Skyserv Melina Merkouri Lounge and the other lounges. The Skyserv lounge features a “posh-retro” décor with wood panels, earth tones, and recessed lighting. It’s less luminous than the other lounges – the windows are on the small side – and more subdued, but perhaps classier, and with more character. The high industrial curved ceiling adds an interesting architectural element to the ensemble.
The seating layout favors small groups, with clusters of comfortable leather seats around coffee tables. Indoor plants and low partitions break up the open space. When quiet, the lounge offers superior comfort, but privacy is relatively limited at peak times.
On the left side when entering is a buffet area flanked by a very small dining section with a handful of tables.
Power outlets are available along the walls but are sorely lacking overall.
Skyserv Melina Merkouri Lounge ATH amenities
The buffet offers a small selection of food and beverages. While the fare is tasty – we love the hot pastries at breakfast time – the selection is very limited overall. Soft drinks and espresso are available for self-service. Alcoholic beverages are only available from the bartender, however, and the selection is rather weak. When we visited, the bar wasn’t staffed, and we were not offered a drink.
There is a modern board room next to the reception area, though it doesn’t have a door. We’re not sure what to make of this setup: we couldn’t quite imagine having a business meeting given the complete lack of privacy. On the other hand, the room doubles as comfortable workspace.
Other amenities include a selection of newspapers and magazines.
Skyserv Melina Merkouri Lounge ATH bottom line
The Skyserv Melina Merkouri Lounge at Athens airport is a well-appointed and pleasant lounge which has character and comfortable seating, and should cater to most basic needs. However, the space is a bit dim, and the overall food and beverage selection disappoints.
- The cozy décor.
- The board room, as a workspace.
- The weak drink selection.
- The lack of power outlets.

Overall ratings
No bathroom, dirty coffee machine. Food is mediocre at best, reception personnel can’t be bothered ending calls when talking to customers. Lounge is dated, air not exactly fresh.
Very nice, clean and quiet lounge. In times of covid the selection of food and drinks is quite limited. The personnel is very welcoming and provides an excellent service. Ive been there 4 times last summer and it felt as an oasis of peace inside the crowded airport.
A busy lounge for morning flights. The food and coffee are below average. The staff are nice & friendly
A quiet and pleasant lounge, but a meager food and beverage offering. The seating layout is ideal for small groups.
