The United Club at Los Angeles airport, Terminal 7, by gate 73 is one of the two United Club locations at LAX, and mostly serves as overflow for the more centrally located United Club by gate 71A. It is located on a mezzanine above the concourse.
United Club LAX design
Visitor beware: until October 2014, this location used to be a Global First lounge for international First class passengers. As such, it featured comfortable couches, an open bar, and a selection of hot and cold entrees. With United’s terminal consolidation in LAX, the closure of the closure of the Terminal 6 lounge and the ongoing construction, the space was downgraded to a United Club in order to relieve the club by gate 71A.
Gone are the nice (if a bit tired) couches and the expansive space to relax and spread out. United has crammed as many seats as possible, and, rather than acquiring new furniture, appears to have relocated most worn out furniture from the now defunct Terminal 6 club. In other words, in terms of designs, efficiency is the keyword. With dense seating and crowds at all times, the place is rather underwhelming, and power outlets are virtually nowhere to be found. On the bright side, the indoor plants provide a touch of freshness, and the floor to ceiling windows offer nice views of the tarmac and let ample light in.
United Club LAX amenities
There are no specific amenities to speak of. Despite being a former international first class lounge, the club does not have showers, and the bathroom is under-dimensioned for a United Club. The club also lacks a business center, though counter style seating on the right wall may be suitable for laptop users.
The United Clubs at LAX feature United’s recently enhanced food selection, with hard broiled eggs, yoghurt and berries in the morning, and soups and salads throughout the day. While simple, the selection is pretty palatable overall, but no substitution for a meal.
The bottom line
We’d suggest that you avoid the United Club at LAX T7 gate 73, but unfortunately the main United Club by gate 71A is typically even more crowded, and currently lacks daylight as the windows are blocked by construction.
United is working on a brand new club which will feature a modern design and an outdoor deck. The new lounge is slated to open in December 2016. In the meantime, United offers the saddest lounges at LAX, which is unfortunate considering that Los Angeles is a premium market feeding some of the airline’s longest flights (namely to Sydney and Melbourne).

- Fresh chopped herbs, chopped green onions, croutons, baked tortilla strips, whole wheat crackers, whole wheat roll, and seeded parker house roll.
